A U.S. District Court will hold a trial in Montana Democratic Party v Jacobsen, 9:21cv-119, on July 25, 2022. This is the case that challenges a 2021 Montana law that makes it a crime for a political committee to carry out petitioning, or a voter registration drive, in a residence hall, dining facility, or athletic facility of a public college.
MT regime –
1 of the 50 ANTI-Democracy minority rule gerrymander legislatures.
I agree with Montana. Going into a public college or private college to petition is wrong. Outside the building or admission to the college property is okay. I am for ballot access; but, not ballot access by walking over private or public property rights. Most colleges are breeding grounds for leftist Marxist politics. Screw them.
Public vs private property.
Public buildings open to general public — for moving around.
The restrictions are to areas not open to the general public. Just because a building is publicly owned does not give you right to go into areas where residents are eating, sleeping, or watching sporting events.
