Those who seem dissatisfied with the system don’t seem to have a consensus on any alternative.
One good feature about ranked choice voting is that no voter is obligated to rank their votes if they don’t want to. All any voter needs to do to vote the “old fashion” way is to simply cast a number “1” vote, and not rank any of the other candidates.
If a ballot is exhausted it should be treated as potentially being for the last placed continuing candidate. If this prevent exclusion of other candidates simply have a runoff election.
