This is an idea whose time has come — and gone
None of those five state are going to pass it.
NPV doesn’t address the basic problem of plurality voting — even with NPV you can still get a President elected with a minority of the popular vote.
But, if the supporters of this idea still think it’s so great, why wait for the states with a majority of the electoral votes to pass it? Why not just go ahead and implement it among the states that have already passed it? Then we can see how it actually works in practice.

There never should and never shall be an equal rights amendment in the USA. Instead, your country, ours, and all others are more than ready for a repeal of the greatly failed experiment of women voting and owning property, instead of being the property of their father’s and husbands as they once were and should and shall be again. We will joyously return to true and almighty patriarchy, never to be questioned again. Disobedient women will once again be publicly punished, shamed, and humiliated, and all will be right in the world with men eternally and supremely dominant and Jesus always at the head of the table.
