US House Committee Passes Elections Bill

This story is about an Elections bill that was passed on Thursday, July 13 by the US House Committee on House Administration on an 8-4 vote.

While ostensibly about “election integrity,” the bill bars the District of Columbia from using Ranked Choice Voting (continuing some Republicans’ attack on RCV), bars non-citizens from voting in DC elections, and mandates a “30% reduction in federal payments to any state or local jurisdictions that permit voting by noncitizens.”

The bill has 100 Republican and zero Democratic cosponsors, meaning that it is extremely unlikely this bill will become law in this Congress.

  1. Good bill, but yeah, the demon rats will sink it because they want to keep cheating and rigging elections. Hopefully will pass next congress and be signed into law by President Trump.

  3. Did things become better since then? Or worse? Some things better, some things worse? Please back your opinions. Given how often AZ refers to rot, you might conclude even he thinks a substantial number of things have become worse.

  4. I’m not entirely convinced that it has no chance of making it past the Senate and getting Biden’s signature. The 2024 election is approaching, and the Democrats are cynical as heck. They might pass it if they thought doing so would win “moderate” voters for Biden.

  5. Still no answers:

DID DARK AGE END. IF SO WHEN.

WAS THERE AN AGE OR AGES BEFORE DARK AGE. HOW MANY AND WHEN.

WAS THERE AN AGE BETWEEN DARK AGE AND NEW AGE? IF YES, APPROXIMATE YEARS?

ARE WE IN THE NEW AGE?

    DO THESE AGES EVER OVERLAP?

    ARE/WERE ANY AGES LESS DARK?

IF ALL AGES HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE, HOW DO WE KNOW WE’RE CAPABLE OF BETTER? MUCH LESS WHAT DIRECTION, NEVER MIND SPECIFIC PROPOSALS, IS OPTIMAL?

  6. Joshua, if that was the case it would already have Democrat sponsors in the House and Senate.

  7. ANY *AGE* WITH A MINORITY RULE MONARCH/OLIGARCH REGIME HAS BEEN AND IS A POLISCI *DARK AGE*—

  8. So no answers to the questions. Again, disagreeing with you is not being a troll moron. If all ages are dark ages, how does political science determine what’s better and what’s worse? Sounds more like faith, and insecure faith at that, since you don’t want to let other people make arguments for your positions, or engage in rational open minded dialogue yourself.

Please make up your mind if old days were worse, better, or always equally bad, etc.

I don’t rely on what schools teach to learn history, an ongoing study and lifelong pursuit.

Additionally, I didn’t go to government schools and didn’t subject my children to them.

  10. Show by what measures democracy has made things better, however you define better, and feel free to explain your normative goals if you wish. You consistently fail to define your ages.

Have wars been reduced? When? How are you measuring that? If they were reduced (prove it) how do you know what caused it? Is it a universal correlation? Are there counterexamples? Other possible explanations? Your claims need evidence,to speak nothing of proof . Why don’t you let some other people answer. Or define your “ages.” Or both.

  11. Lol the Guardian. A paper so fake they once misspelled their own name in the masthead.
