The State of Michigan indicted all 16 electors of then-President Donald Trump in 2020 for signing forms indicating that Trump won Michigan’s electoral votes in the 2020 presidential election.

  9. Ron, it isn’t related to ballot access, but this site has long carried news about the electoral college and this story relates to one of the many flaws with the electoral college.

    Also, I don’t see any problems with the electoral college in the fake news story.
    It appears to be about problems with corrupt AG Nessel and her kangaroo office persecution of people who worked for actual election integrity. If there were real justice she and her cronies and underlings would be the ones up on charges.

    At this point the electoral college is one of the few things halting the slide to full blown European style socialism and quite possibly a nuclear WWIII. Trump being elected in 2016 saved America, and maybe saved the world. Hillary Clinton would probably have been an even bigger disaster than Biden, and him stealing the election has been a huge disaster on its own right. Trump winning in 2024 will save us all again if Biden doesn’t blow us up first by going to war with Russia over Ukraine.

  13. Electoral college is good within your present system. Ideally though, the President (and federal government) would only be concerned with military defense. Therefore, the commander in chief would be picked by fellow generals and admirals. The only other government would be local defense against mala in se crimes and last resort for intractable disputes. No president or equivalent at that level, maybe about 10 peacekeepers elected every year out of about 100 electors, give or take.

For anyone inclined to taking AZ fake news seriously, he also believes that the biggest difference between Hitler and Trump is that the former went to jail (never mind little things like an 8 digit body count among many others), the US is currently a monarchy, and he makes no errors except typographical.

  16. All of those bad ideas would only make things go from bad to worse . Except for repealing amendments. I agree about that, within an interim system where your constitution still applies.

  18. 13th – 17 th amendments should be repealed. 18th was already repealed by 21st, so perhaps 21st should be repealed, although not necessarily. 19th amendment should be repealed. No strong opinion on 20th. I think the 22nd may well be repealed before the end of Trump’s second term. 23rd, 24th, and 26th should be repealed. No strong opinion on 25th and 27th.

    Why a need for a standing army? Wouldn’t a militia be more consistent with a locality based system?

  48. That’s actually a good point. It’s entirely possible that would be adequate defense. In formulation of proposals, I thought nations would need modern military forces to protect against other modern military forces. That may not be the case.

    Afghani ragtag fighting units held up quite well against our modern military, as well as yours. In your revolutionary war, you were vastly overmatched by the British army, yet beat them. There are many other such examples. There are micronations throughout the world today, some of them having existed for centuries, which survive without foreign invasion or occupation, even though they would clearly be no match for larger national military forces.

    My proposals already include a militia system. Perhaps that’s all that’s needed, with the larger unit of government I’ve proposed being entirely unnecessary, and defense against both criminals and foreign invasion handled adequately by government units in the range of approximately 100k total population.

    I was already exploring thoughts in that direction. Thank you for reminding me of that.
