Joe Sanger, a Founder of the Constitution Party, Dies

On July 28, 2023, Joe Sanger of Lansing, Michigan, died at the age of 85. He had been one of the founders of the U.S. Taxpayers Party in 1992, along with Howard Phillips and others. In 1999 the party changed its name to the Constitution Party.

Sanger served as the party’s national treasurer for 20 years. Here is an obituary.

  1. Rest in peace.

    It is interesting that a founder of the Constitution Party had several public sector jobs during his career, early on.

  2. He was also a young Democrat, so clearly he became wiser as he matured.

  3. Did he do anything for the Constitution Party before he was treasurer? I cannot place him.

  4. If I read that correctly it sounds like the claim is that he was the treasurer for the first 20 years, but maybe I misread that, or perhaps the claim isn’t true or confused state and national.
