Five Candidates Seeking the Nomination of a Minor Party Will Debate Each Other on February 29

Free & Equal will host a presidential debate in New York city on Thursday, February 29, at 8 p.m. eastern time. The debate includes two candidates who are seeking the nomination of the Libertarian Party (Lars Mapstead and Chase Oliver), and two candidates who are seeking the nomination of the Peace & Freedom Party (Claudia de la Cruz and Jasmine Sherman). The debate also includes Jill Stein, who is the front-runner for the Green Party nomination.

The debate will be live-screened on Rumble and Crowdpac, and is being held in Chelsea TV Studios.

It is somewhat rare for minor party candidates from diverse political perspectives to debate each other.

Five Candidates Seeking the Nomination of a Minor Party Will Debate Each Other on February 29 — 18 Comments

  1. I think this year’s viewership numbers might end up higher than some would believe, with the “Commission” on Presidential Debates’ future in doubt and quite a bit of discontent against Biden amongst some folks who had supported him in 2020. And Free and Equal’s debates could very well end up being the only multiparty debates this year.

  2. Debates are not very persuasive in a world where few fundamental principles are held in common. They largely consist of signaling to target constituencies with coded language.

  3. This organization held a Democrat debate for 4 candidates I have never heard of earlier this year. It got 80k+ views. The poll to determine who made this debate secured 300k+ votes. I would be shocked if this doesn’t have over 100k views in the first 24 hours. I think this will be a big opportunity for candidates vying for a party nomination.

  4. Peter Sonski of the American Solidarity Party should have been included. He did well in the Free and Equal poll, maintaining his place in the top 6th until the very end when he fell to 7th place.
If Cornel West or RFK Jr aren’t there it’s not likely to get great streaming numbers.
