Idaho House Defeats Proposed Constitutional Amendment to Ban Ranked Choice Voting

On March 11, the Idaho House defeated HJR 4, which would have amended the state Constitution to ban ranked choice voting. Although it got a majority, it needed two-thirds. The vote was 42-27.

    Bills banning X are often less restrictive than bills mandating Y.

    What business does the Idaho House have with county or municipal elections? Power should flow in the opposite direction.

  3. Good to see this defeated. Hopefully, they don’t try again.

    Also, if it’s a constitutional amendment, would it not go before the voters?
