New York City Mayoral Poll Shows 7% Support “Other” Candidates — 5 Comments

  1. Its disappointing that other is only 7%. Whoever said: “The people don’t always get what they want but they always get what they deserve. ” was right

  2. 7% seems excessively high to me. Between the Rent is Too Damn High and Conservative Party candidates I expected only about 3-4%.

  3. There are a bunch of “other” candidates, though, Trent. There’s Talen, The Rent Is Too Damn High, the Conservative guy, the Libertarian, the PSL (Frances Villar), and I think another socialist and maybe some other people.

  4. According to another BAN post, here are the candidates on the ballot:

William C. Thompson (Dem., Working Families),
    Michael R. Bloomberg (Rep., Independence),
    Stephen Christopher (Conservative),
Francisca “Frances” Villar (Socialism and Liberation),
    Dan Fein (Socialist Workers),
    Billy Talen (Green),
Jimmy McMillan (Rent is Too High),
    Joseph Dobrian (Libertarian).

I don’t know how the poll question was framed, but it’s a safe bet that they didn’t mention any names except Bloomberg and Thompson. 7% is not bad, considering the huge chasm in money, name recognition and media between Bloomberg/Thompson and “other”.
