According to this story, J. D. Vance voted for independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin in November 2016. He said this in 2021 in an interview with Time Magazine.
McMullin was on the ballot in 2016 in Kentucky. In Ohio he was a declared write-in candidate and he was credited with 12,574 votes. It is not clear which state Vance lived in at the time.
The mention of his 2016 vote is under “Vance’s Political Turn” in the first paragraph.
Not to be picky, but McMullin was not on the ballot in Ohio. Otherwise, interesting information. Thanks.
And… who gives a fuck?
thank you, Everett. I have fixed the post.
He may have been living in California according to something else I saw.
That was a little bit later.
Lots of people change views over time. What’s the big deal?
Most people aren’t career politicians. Vance changes his views depending on who he is talking to and what he can get out of it. He is unreliable.
That’s nearly the definition of career politician. They succeed by being crowd pleasers.
JD was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio; I don’t think he ever lived in Kentucky.

He’s from the Cincinnati area, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he lived in Kentucky since the metro area is split between states. His grandparents were from Kentucky.
MODERN P.R. DEVELOPED IN Cincinnati.
DID VANCE TELL TRUMP EVERY POLITICAL THING THAT VANCE EVER DID SINCE AGE ZERO ???
He was a law clerk for a US District Court Judge in Kentucky, Judge David Bunning.
Bunning is in Covington, so Vance could have commuted from Cincinnati.
He got his J.D. in 2013, so he would have clerked before 2016. He may have been in S.F. in November 2016.
Maybe he voted in multiple states.
Cincinnati Metro is split between three states. It’s not uncommon to commute to another state for work in that area. Look at NYC and how many commute from New Jersey and Connecticut.
