Lansing — Former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cannot withdraw from Michigan’s November general election ballot after suspending his campaign and endorsing Republican Donald Trump, a Michigan Court of Claims judge ruled Tuesday.
Judge Christopher Yates upheld Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s rejection of Kennedy’s
request to withdraw from the ballot, finding the state’s top election administrator “acted well within the bounds of law” in denying the “eleventh hour” request.
“Elections are not just games, and the Secretary of State (SOS) is not obligated to honor the whims of candidates for public office,” wrote Yates, who is an appointee of Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
