On September 6, Utah presidential elector candidates pledged to Shiva Ayyadurai filed a federal lawsuit to restore their place on the ballot. The state elections office had said they have enough valid signatures, but removed them because they are pledged to Ayyadurai, who was born in India.
The elector candidates argue that they are qualified and should be permitted to run. The case is Rohr v State of Utah Lieutenant Governor, 2:24cv-00659. It is assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Ann Marie McIff Allen, a Biden appointee.
I don’t want someone born in another country to become President. Sorry.
I don’t even want someone whose parents were born in another country to become President.
Or someone whose parents were born in another country!
Someone whose parents weren’t born here should be disqualified as well.
Obama was born in Kenya.
He hatched.
WHAT IF MAMA IS SHIP-WRECKED AND GIVES BIRTH IN A LIFEBOAT ON THE HIGH SEAS ???
NATION-STATE OF KID — NEPTUNIA ??? — OR THAT OF THE FATHER ???
I think Sam is right. Osama hatched!
Not Term Limits NY dragging Rafael Cruz like that
“Someone whose parents weren’t born here should be disqualified as well.” Now THAT is absolutely un-American.
Three Shiva articles back-to-back? That’s a hat-trick. Nice!

Anyone want to go take the effort of calculating what percentage of US presidents did not have either parent born anywhere on the continent of North America? I’m curious, but I’m not sure whether I’m *that* curious – though I might, if nobody else does.
It’s not as many as I would have guessed.
The only president of whom neither parent was born in North America, is Andrew Jackson, whose parents both emigrated from Ireland.
Three others had a father not born in North America. James Buchanan and Chester Arthur’s fathers were from Ireland. And Barack Obama’s father was from Kenya.
Three others had a mother not born in North America. Thomas Jefferson and Woodrow Wilson’s mothers were from England. And Donald Trump’s mother was from Scotland.
In addition, Herbert Hoover’s mother was from Canada, not the US.
If the electors are qualified, they may run. May they vote for someone not qualified? If they do, then Congress can simply void their electoral votes when they are delivered.
Keeping people whose families haven’t been here for at least 7 generations from voting, much less being President, would make America great again.
It is ‘high’ time that we redraw the line at, all predecessors since 1500 must be born within the United states contemporary boundaries. I am not sure how we will verify the paternal lineage, as an estimated 30% – 40% of babies have a misidentified father. Perhaps we could require DNA verification. At least we could filter out anyone with neanderthal lineage indicated.
1800 seems more appropriate. There were no European volk in what is now the US in 1500, which I guess must have been your point..
