Minnesota Democrats Appear to Have Recruited an Independent Conservative Candidate for U.S. House

This story says it appears that Minnesota Democratic activists recruited a conservative individual to run for U.S. House, 2nd district, and to have collected all his signatures for him. His ballot label is “Constitutional Conservative.”

  1. That district has a Democrat incumbent who has won 3 times already… Are their internal polls for their candidates really that terrible?

  2. But is he any good, is the question. He’s not running as a Democrat, so he is not subject to even any attempts at party discipline or substitution by the Democrats.

    Honestly, I have no issue with this (alleged) Democrat strategy of recruiting independent conservatives to split the vote against them. It serves the GOP right for abandoning its voters and principals in favor of the “progressive” race to the bottom.

  3. The strategy is perfectly fine, regardless of who uses it or why. It is and should be up to the voters to judge candidates and their motivations. There could be multiple reasons for Democrats to have recruited conservative independent candidates regardless of their chances of winning or holding any one particular district.
