Chicago Tribune Article on Illinois’ Byzantine Ballot Access Process

Here’s an article by Joe Mahr in today’s Chicago Tribune.

In the 2022 general election, all 118 seats in the Illinois House of Representatives and all 59 seats in the Illinois Senate were on the ballot. There were ZERO minor party and ZERO independent candidates on the ballot in those 177 elections.

The 2024 general election brings another impoverished smorgasbord of little to no choice elections for the people of Illinois. While New York is the only state with only two presidential candidates on the ballot, Illinois is one of four states with only three presidential candidates on the ballot (DC, North Dakota and Wyoming are the others).

I will analyze the 2024 general election ballot more completely and report on that ASAP, but we all know the approximate results beforehand. While the Democratic Party proclaims itself the savior of democracy in this nation, the Democratic Party of Illinois is doing all it can to stamp out political competition in that state.

  16. These are the 2022 independent candidate votes. Based on what Bill said, these may have been write-ins.

    State Senate (59 districts):
    6th – 1
    10th – 515
    17th – 24
    50th – 1
    57th – 8

    State House (118 districts):
    28th – 37

    Based on the State Senate results, people who received a single vote were tabulated. Therefore, the State House result is statistically impossible without significant election interference.

  17. This election interference could have occurred prior to voting, in which people were inappropriately denied or unprocessed when submitting their declaration form (which apparently has no fee?).

    It also could have occurred after voting, in which votes for declared write-ins were tossed.

    In regular English, there’s no way one person filed as a write-in for State House in 2022. No way.

  23. I’m pretty sure the Byzantines used a form of Approval Voting, just like the Venetian Republic and Roman Papal enclaves used to.
    And it didn’t involve ballots, but rather black and white stones or marbles were used.

  31. Voters may be able to emerge from the fascist police state once they demand a content neutral write-in only voter verifiable ballot – Liberty Ballot. Until then, the state owns the ballot and the partisan incumbents own the faux voters.
