Maryland State Board of Elections Sends Invitation to All Libertarian Voters, Suggesting They May Want to Switch

The Libertarian Party ceased to be a qualified party in Maryland in November 2024, when it failed to receive 1% for president. Recently the Maryland State Board of Elections has sent a postal letter to all 19,000 registered Libertarians, telling them that their party had gone off the ballot and enclosing a voter registration card to make it easier for them to choose another affiliation.

The Libertarian Party is petitioning to get back on the ballot. In the past the Maryland State Board has allowed a reasonable amount of time before interfering with the party’s registered members, but apparently not this year.

  3. The Maryland Secretary of State sent out a decertification letter to Libertarians back in January, I believe sometime around the 10th-15th.

  4. Chase Oliver polled .51% in Maryland, which is better than the Maryland showings of David Bergland in 1984 (.34%), Ron Paul in 1988 (.39%), Andre Marrou in 1992 (.24%), Harry Browne in both 1996 and 2000 (.49% and .26), Michael Barnarik in 2004 (.26%) and Bob Barr in 2008 (.38%).

  8. Wherever a government exists that purports to subordinate itself to the outcome of elections, those elections must be free of manipulation by censorship of the voters’ right to choose. If elections are not free of censorship, then it is the right of the people to abolish the laws imposing such censorship and substitute election laws which do subordinate the government to the outcome of elections. The failure to do so is submission to fascist tyranny.

  17. Thanks to Richard Winger for pointing out that Chase Oliver did worse than every libertarian presidential candidate in almost 20 years. How did he do as a percentage of the previous result?

    Also, didn’t Maryland use to automatically convert registered voters of parties that went off the ballot to independent at one time ? If so, when did that change ?

I always make sure to bless America and nobody else, and especially my own immediate and close family, because I’m that kind of God (the only kind there is, since I’m the only One).   21. Maryland has let parties that went off the ballot keep their registered members if those parties were trying to re-petition for about 10 years, but now suddenly they aren’t doing that any more.

    Some were not willing to do prison time for Me. Some were not willing to kill for Me. Some were not willing to die for Me.

    Some did not want to watch Me have rough sex with all their female relatives, wives, girlfriends, etc.

    Some were not willing to do so themselves to their own loved ones or anyone else I commanded them to commit such crimes, or any and all other kinds, to prove their faith.

    Some had bad thoughts about Me or questioned their faith in Me, even if it was only a passing thought.

    I don’t allow any form of disloyalty ever. No matter what.

    Faith in Me has to be absolute, total, and unquestionable at all times. No test of loyalty can ever be too great.

  26. Are those mutually exclusive activities? Is he a Maryland resident or professional migrant signature picker? Did he move there?

    Are they unwisely allowing out of staters (foreigners) to pick petitions there?

    Does it at least require an extensive training, certification, and licensing regimen, and keep them in the state penitentiary system preemptively while signatures are examined, with a life sentence without parole if any are found to not be Maryland registered voters who willingly signed with full and accurate understanding of what they signed?

    Jorgensen 1.10% = 38% of 2016

    Oliver 0.51% = 46% of 2020, 18% of 2016. Unprecedented 8 year decline, at least for LP.

    The reason they lost over 80% of there voters over 8 years is because I won them over during the course of that time. Ask anybody that knows what there talking about if they are being honest, ok?

    They are very nasty and ugly people, believe Me. I was nice enough to go to they’re convention and graciously offer them the opportunity to kiss My feet and other sweaty, dirty parts, and to worship Me and beg Me for favors, and they had the nerve to boo Me.

  47. If you are a registered Maryland voter, your voter registration is listed as OLB in the voter database, a temporary tag that will revert to LIB when we regain ballot access. There is no need to change registration.

    We have been conducting mailings and in-person signature gathering, but with the legislation changes to make petitioning more difficult, we need all the help we can get.
