America Party Files with the Federal Election Commission

On July 6, the America Party filed with the Federal Election Commission.  See the four-page document here. UPDATE: Elon Musk says this filing is fake.

The party’s address, 1 Rocket Rd., Hawthorne, California, is the headquarters of SpaceX.

Whoever filled out the form seems to have made a mistake with the zip code.  The correct zip code for 1 Rocket Road, Hawthorne, California, is 90250.  But the form lists zip code 78725, which is in Austin, Texas.

The party’s treasurer is Vaibhav Taneja.  He is also the Chief Financial Officer of Tesla Motor Company.

America Party Files with the Federal Election Commission — 10 Comments

  1. I suspect that Musk may be awaiting a favorable decision on the National Republican Senatorial Committee v FEC case before the Supreme Court. A decision allowing political parties to make unlimited, co-ordinated contributions to candidates could make new parties with wealthy contributors quite powerful.

  2. Walter, I don’t think that decision will help. It would not affect the law on how much money individuals can give to parties. The decision would help parties that have lots of money, of course. But that’s not the same thing.

  3. But, a new party with lots of well off contributors who could max out would have a substantial amount of cash that they could use to support a limited number of candidates in targeted districts. This could suit Musk’s stated strategy quite well.

  4. 6 indies, 2 libertarian, 1 forward party make ballot for VA HOD. Fewer than one in ten races have a third party option

  5. Nazi party today is called Democrats.

Musk has no strategy, just drug induced brain farts .
