The city of Lynchburg’s Republican Party had sued to stop a new law that requires parties that nominate by convention to make provision for absentee voting for people who cannot attend the convention. The judge wrote that the case is not yet ripe for a decision. The specific state rules have not yet been set out, and the judge felt the case must wait until there is greater clarity about whether the law will prove burdensome.

No. Parties, like businesses, church’s, families, individual’s, and any type of social organizations must exist to serve the State. Only in partnership with the State as the hub of all these spokes can the wheel have purpose or harmonious and efficient function. That certainly includes the Party.

Some state libertarian parties can and do let out of staters vote at their state nomination conventions, and or serve as their state’s delegates at national nomination conventions. Their party, their rules.
