In 2010 the voters of the District of Columbia passed an initiative, providing that the voters should elect the Attorney General for the district. Voters have been choosing the Attorney General starting in 2014. Now, bills are being drafted by various Republican members of Congress to eliminate elections for that office. In what year did Trump become your ruler? How many more decades do you think he will be in power? Which of his sons do you think is the most likely to succeed him? What does he typically do with those who are disloyal or disparaging him – public execution? Quietly disappearing? Whipping? Mutilation? Harvesting their organs without anaesthesia while they are still alive? Long prison sentences? Exile? Are women who do not praise him sufficiently typically gang raped by order of the court?

The lawsuit seeks to force President Donald Trump to withdraw the nearly 2,300 National Guard members stationed in the nation’s capital.
D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb said the involuntary deployment has infringed on the District’s limited autonomy.
I agree that DC is a mess in more ways than one. Time to reduce the federal district to the mall and the buildings between the White House and Congress and cede the rest back to Maryland. That would leave DC with a very small population and thus no need for any home rule. Have the Speaker become the “mayor” again and revoke the Electoral College votes.
Maryland does not want that territory back. It should be a state. It has more population than Wyoming. There is no other country in the world in which the inhabitants of the capital city have no voting representation in the national legislature. That is a scandal and there is no excuse for it.

It is custom that residents of the federal enclave aren’t permitted to vote for representatives. Residents of Camp Pendleton are permitted to vote in California elections.
DC should be kicked out of the USA and walled off to be its own third world country.

I agree wall off DC and kick it out of the US, but I would include adjacent areas of Maryland and Virginia.
