These are candidates who have registered under the campaign finance law, including appointment of a campaign treasurer. This apparently permits campaign fund raising, and is required even if no fund raising is done. Some of these filings were as early as May 2025.
In 2022, 31 candidates made this filing for Governor. 8 withdrew, 13 did not qualify (i.e., they did not pay the filing fee), and two were removed.
4 Democrats, 1 Republican, 1 Libertarian, and 1 No Party Affiliation (NPA) qualified.
3 Democrats were eliminated in the Democratic primary. No Libertarian or Republican primary for governor was held since the candidates were unopposed.
4 candidates appeared on the general election ballot.
For 2024, 6 candidates have already withdrawn, 34 remain “active”. The first actual filing period is in April.
