Indiana Bill that Would End Secret Ballots for Postal Ballots Advances

On February 16, the Indiana Senate Elections Committee passed HB 1359. The bill had already passed the House on January 22. It would add a marker to postal ballots to identify the voter who had cast that ballot. See this story. The purpose is to eliminate that ballot after it had been cast, if the voter who cast it is found ineligible.

  1. Is it totalitarianism yet? Because those are the kinds of regimes that strip away the right to cast one’s ballot secretly.

  2. Baloney, Joshua . Voting is political power. Political power without accountability is dangerous. Anonymous voting by voters who elect politicians or vote directly on issues is just as bad as letting politicians themselves vote anonymously on issues or appointments.

    Vote by mail should be done away with, but anonymous voting should be done away with in person, too. Anonymous voting leads to increased voter fraud. So does mail voting. Anonymous mail voting is a fraud double whammy.

    As for totalitarianism, your ability to ask the question openly here answers it. My ex wife fled the USSR, and you couldn’t do that there. If you were in some public forum in the Soviet Union running your mouth about them being totalitarian you would soon find yourself in a gulag prison camp, shot dead, or in a secure psychiatric facility.

    Luckily, anonymous voting is basically gone with cameras all over the place, including on pocket telephones. Unluckily, the photo or video ability is only there to ensure that voters – especially those voting by mail – vote as those bribing or blackmailing them or harvesting their votes wish, and not as they should to protect the public interest and election integrity.

If anything, it’s mass fraudulent voting with phantom, ineligible, repeat etc voters casting miscounted anonymous mail ballots – or having them cast on their behalf, with or without real consent, particularly with individuals who depend heavily on caretakers such as those in nursing homes , living with relatives or others who take care of basic needs in ways they can’t themselves, are in abusive controlling relationships, etc – that is a hallmark of totalitarianism.

    Or as a famous totalitarian leader reportedly said, those who vote decide nothing, those who count the votes decide everything.

  4. The US in its early years did not have anonymous voting, and was not totalitarian. Totalitarian communist regimes often have anonymous, multicandidate, mandatory or quasimandatory voting, but the votes aren’t counted honestly and the added candidates are puppets who aren’t seriously running. That’s the direction we are headed in, and this bill is a step away from that precipice.

  6. The secrecy is a bug, not a feature, D. Frank Robinson. So is the fact that it relies on the increasingly rare art of literary, and makes it even worse by requiring voters to not only know how to read, but to write as well.

  10. Woke Pedo nonsense. The bad days are now as we drown in woke b.s., cultural rot, perverts, alien invasion, red tape, election fraud, debt, taxes, multigenerational welfare leeching, crime, terrorism, biochemical warfare, emasculation, etc – all connected.

    Social consequences for voting for all that nonsense, and election integrity, are keys to puting an end to all that.
