U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-Montana) in this article responds to criticism that he didn’t tell anyone that he was retiring until minutes before the primary filing deadline closed. See this story.
Fortunately, in 2012, an independent candidate in Montana won a federal lawsuit against the old petition deadline for independent candidates. Kelly v McCulloch, cv-08-25, struck down the old independent candidate petition deadline, which had been the same day that primary candidates file. The legislature then changed the independent deadline to one week before the primary. That gives a chance for an independent candidate to enter this year’s Senate race.
Kurt Alme will make a fine Senator.
The Leftard “independent” isn’t going to win, and the demon rats won’t either.
How many seconds before the nAZi-666 spambot starts posting fake news and woke Pedo links and raving about “tyrant” Trump in order to get more nutjobs to try to assassinate the President?
The premise of that question is that the nAZi-666 spambot ever stops its disgusting attempts to stir up more assassination attempts against the President. I don’t think it ever stops. It’s just a matter of how quickly it’s programmed subroutines can execute.

In some places, the filing deadline automatically extends for a few days if the incumbent doesn’t file. This should be the law everywhere to prevent this chosen-heir tactic.
People could file if they wanted to, even if just in case. It was their choice not to. Yet another reason to not vote for individuals.
