On April 8, Butch Ware appealed to the California State Court of Appeals, in Ware v Weber, the ballot access case. The Secretary of State has kept him off the June 2, 2026 primary ballot as the Green candidate for Governor. Now the case is called Ware v Superior Court, C106053.
There were five or six candidates tripped up by the income tax disclosure law. None were apparently opposed to complying with the law, but were confused by the deadlines, and that the SOS in Sacramento was administering that part of the law, while the main filing was with the county election offices. The legislature was just intent on embarrassing Trump, and did not really care one way or the other about a law.
