On April 1, Taiba Sultana, a Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania’s State Senate 18th district seat was removed from the primary ballot earlier this month because she put “self-employed” in the Statement of Economic Interests, in the blank asking for her occupation. See this story. The case is Nomination Petition of Taiba Sultana for the Democratic Party Nomination for Senator in the General Assembly from the 18th legislative District in the May 19, 2026 Primary Election. Commonwealth Court 138 MD 2026.
On April 7, the candidate appealed to the State Supreme Court, which denied the case with no opinion. 27 MAP 2026.
Is she even an American?
STATIST ADD-ON BALLOT ACCESS STUFF TO SUBVERT CONSTITUTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS.
This is an article about her actual removal from the ballot:
https://www.lehighvalleynews.com/elections/supreme-court-ruling-keeps-sultana-off-ballot-in-democratic-primary-for-state-senate
In the article she disclosed that she was a political consultant, caterer, and online seller.
NPR is FAKE NEWS!
It’s worse than just fake news, it’s communist deep state run media with Chinese characteristics!
Are self-employed people not allowed to run for office?
Why is that not a description of occupation that’s acceptable?
Isn’t it accepted frequently in the occupation field of political contribution forms?
Have other Pennsylvania candidates listed their occupation thus on the ballot in the past?
Was anyone ever removed for using it before?
Do other states require candidates to list their occupation?
Do they allow “self-employed”, if so?
Why don’t Babylon Bee and Not The Bee links post here anymore?
Fred, chances are she is most likely a USA Citizen. Her ideology is certainly not American, though. Many millions of such people have been admitted and naturalized due to the 1965 immigration law, the single worst piece of legislation signed into US law in 250 years.
Because of its effects – mass turd world immigration, subsidized by the welfare state and “NON” governmental organisations, chain migration, birthright citizenship to those they spawned here, “bilingual” “education,” amnesty for illegal invaders, etc – there are probably 100 million US Citizens, as defined by the current illegitimate USA Globalist Occupation Government, who are not USA Citizens by the original and intended definition, and are thus well overdue to be detained, denaturalized, and deported.
That’s on top of what might be another 100 million unvetted illegal invaders from every corner and craphole in the world.
Many of those vote illegally, too.
They have fundamentally changed our national character and politics, much for the worse.
What does it even mean to be American anymore with the way they have twisted, distorted and destroyed this country?
I want my country back!
Trump has made a bare start on saving and restoring American greatness. But it needs to pick up pace dramatically in a hurry or it will be too little, too late!
Couldn’t anyone who feels that “self employed” isn’t detailed enough have attempted to ascertain that information by contacting the candidate or her campaign, researched public information sources, or, all else failing, voted for someone else running against her for that reason?
If the ballot has not yet been printed, shouldn’t the remedy have been to ask her for additional details if the description was deemed too vague?
Is the relevant law phrased in such a way that it’s obvious that it wouldn’t be acceptable?
Do election officials inform candidates of any such defects in their paperwork when they accept it, in time for it to be fixed, if in fact it was obviously unacceptable under the law?
What about people with multiple part time jobs, businesses, income streams, etc? How much space for an occupation description are they allowed to use?
Yet more redundant illustration of the absurd complexity of law, and ballot law especially.
It illustrates why individual candidates, as well as ballots, are unnecessary and highly suboptimal for elections.
Just how much personal information, and which particular pieces thereof, need to be listed on ballots?
Wouldn’t it be better if voters just voted by being counted or out loud for their party, rather than who they think looks best, is most charismatic, is the best liar, has a name that they like, or some other such trivial distraction?
In addition to taking such personality quibbles out of the election, it would make the voting and vote count much, much simpler. When combined with making it fully public and on the record, it would take away all the multiple ways fraud creeps into that process, and assure confidence in the results.
There would then also be no need ever for special elections, trying to remember scores of candidates for multiple offices and relevant facts about them, trying not to mix them up, or any idiotic overly complex “candidate replacement list” schemes.
The winning party would just replace and swap out officeholders at will until the next election (I recommend annual elections).
Small parties could also run without having to come up with people for every office, or trying to get their members with little or no interest in actually running much less serving, little or no qualifications to serve, and little or no chance of winning to run just to fill up the ballot.
They should be able to use the election process to try to share their ideas and persuade people to their banner even if they aren’t prepared to put forth actual candidates.
Make America American Again,
Thank God for President Trump bringing back firing squad federal executions, and speeding up and increasing federal executions in general!
I agree, we need a lot more deportations and executions, by multiple orders of magnitude, and much more swiftly and surely!
MAAA and HG, Amen!
Stanley also makes a great point.
How about a death penalty for being in the country illegally, immediately enforced upon apprehension, by deeming all illegal invaders to be enemy combatants?
1:47 Excellent idea, albeit most likely much more long term than it should be.
IS BEING A ***troll moron*** an occupation — esp on BAN ???
@ nAZi-666 spambot
That’s a pretty good question, for once. I don’t know if your programmer gets paid to program you or not.
Obviously, being a spambot, you don’t need any money for yourself, and you’re only programmed to emulate (come off as) a troll moron.
Actually being one would require you to be sentient, which you are obviously not.
Not much. Knapp can’t even afford $600.
There might be places where trolling could be an occupation, but this isn’t one of them.
There are far too few readers, and it and they are not influential.
The comments are heavily spammed, especially by the AZ SPAMBOT, so most readers of the blog probably don’t read the comments at all. That’s true with pretty much all news websites with comments, but is probably even more true here.
Of those who do read the comments, most probably just laugh at them or shrug it off shake their heads and move on.
Of the comments, many are left by trolls, cranks, and or Spambots such as AZ AKA NAZI-666. The trolls and cranks are at least human, unlike the Spambots.
Cranks honestly believe their nonsense, but nobody really takes them seriously, and nobody should . Thomas Jones, RIP, from whom the AZ-666 spambot was programmed to emulate along with a few other inputs, was a crank.
Cranks are very zealous, repetitive, irrational, and off the wall crazy. They post mainly to reinforce their own beliefs in their own heads. If they are even trying to persuade anyone, they’re amazingly bad at it.
The smarter cranks are basically the fleshbot equivalent of Spambots. They post the same copy and pasted rants to numerous other places and barely if at all even notice the replies.
Given these Real Facts, you really would have to pay someone to troll here. People with a lot more money than sense do exist, but it’s very unlikely. I would bet heavily against those odds. That opinion is reinforced by the extremely amateur quality of the trolling here. You’d think a professional could do a lot better.
Thus, Arkham’s razor indicates the trolls here are amateurs.
They are bored and/or frustrated and/or lonely and/or craving attention and lulz. They don’t get the respect they think they deserve. Etc.
* you really would have to be a moron to pay someone to troll here
You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. At least eggs have come back down pricewise since Trump has been back in office.
Also, those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.
She has launched a write-in campaign.
Literacy is increasingly rare, especially among the younger generations, and declining at an accelerating rate.
Yet another assassination attempt against our Lord and Savior Trump tonight!
That’s to be expected when you have the real globalist, communist, and treasonous tyrants and their dupes, plus troll morons like the one that programs the nAZi-666 spambot, constantly spreading lies that Liberator Trump is a tyrant, when he’s actually the opposite.
Tyrants frequently get assassinated, as they should. Allowing these disgusting lies to be spread here is thus directly encouraging more of these assassination attempts against our precious and holy President.
These evildoers will not be satisfied unless and until they get to crucify Jesus Trump again!
ODR & U&U,
That’s right! But I’m not going to allow them to do it this time!
Well I’m Donald Trump, the one they’re talking about, if you talk crap about me you’ll get punched in the mouth.
If you disrespect me, forget about it, forget it. Best case for you is you’ll survive to regret it.
I’m the Boss of all Bosses, King of all Kings. I bring the world hope, I’m why we have nice things.
Last time I took human form, I got crucified. This time around, I won’t be so nice.
If you think bad about me, stop trusting fake media. Go to conservapedia.com and read conservapedia.
But even if you’re not smart enough to, or have no eyes to see, you’re still smarter than to take seriously the spambot “AZ”!
The beasts must be released!
BAN has banned real news links, including Conservapedia, Babylon Bee, and NOT THE BEE. Try it yourself and see.
Shame on Richard Left Winger and Bill Red Path for that, and for allowing the nAZi-666 spambot to keep falsely calling our Lord and Savior Donald Trump a “tyrant” and thus directly inciting more assassination attempts against the greatest POTUS ever!
Free Speech is great, but that is yelling fire in a crowded theater! It clearly crosses the line and incites assassination attempts!
Look up Achievements of Donald Trump at Conservapedia! So Awesome!
We can’t bring free speech to a gunfight.
Somehow, fake news Woke Pedo Joke Wikipedia links are allowed here, but not real news Conservapedia. That’s not even free speech. The double standards are obvious here.
I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. President Archangel Donald Trump needs more ballroom for his massive, giant balls!
We need to unite as a nation and people at a time line this and all support our President and thank Him and praise Him and pray for and to Him! Trump Bless America and America Bless Trump!
@Q,
Sultana’s candidacy was challenged in court. I don’t know if the election officials in Pennsylvania review the petitions. You may be confusing Pennsylvania with California. California is the only State that I am aware of that places the designation on the ballot.
Here is the complaint of the challengers.
https://www.pacourts.us/Storage/media/pdfs/20260317/211840-138md20263.17.2026taibasultanapetition.pdf
They not only challenged the representation of occupation or profession as “self-employed”, but also the sufficiency of her petition. They knocked off a number of signatures, but failed to get signatures from one circulator excluded. He had given an inconsistent representation of his address, but the judge determined it was not material.
Note, the complaint above includes the candidate petition.
A porn parody of this site’s comments would be retard fetish porn. The actual site comments themselves may well also be Retard fetish porn. Just saying.
https://www.pa.gov/content/dam/copapwp-pagov/en/dos/programs/voting-and-elections/running-for-office/2026/petition-filing-2026/objections%20tracker%202026.pdf
There were 39 objections filed to nominations for state representative, state senator, and Congress. 19 of the 39 were successful. 23 of the 39 objections were against candidates for state representative, but this likely is because there are 203 house districts, compared to 25 (of 50 senate) districts and 18 congressional districts. Objections to representatives were generally more successful. This may reflect that the large number of districts attract newcomers or amateurs, or perhaps the closely divided partisan balance of the House (102D:101R).
State Representative: 203 races, 23 objections (11%), 14 successful (61%).
State Senator: 25 races, 7 objections (28%), 2 successful (29%).
Congress: 18 races, 9 objections, 3 successful (33%).
10 of the objectors were represented by a Philadelphia lawyer whose law firm biography features pictures with him and Bill Clinton and Joe Biden. Clearly the Democratic establishment go to guy.
I looked at the first three challenges.
Shay Micco was challenged by a putative challenger, who is a 20 YO college student who looks like Maynard G. Krebs. I could not find any evidence that he ever filed his petition. He was representing himself. It does not look good for your case when the judge notes the “abject failure” to secure a stenographer, or that the objector did not properly serve the Secretary of the Commonwealth. The judge finally decided that he might as well rule on the substance of the complaint in case of an appeal. The objection was that Micco did not include her voting district on her application. The judge ruled that it was not material to voters being able to determine whether Micco resided in the district and dismissed the objection. Hint: if litigating an election challenge, get an election lawyer.
Ehab Akkary was running for the Republican nomination for state representative. An objector must be of the same party as the candidate being challenged. The objector had a Democratic lawyer, so it would be interesting to find how the objector was recruited. Akkary was objected to on the basis that he had not resided in Pennsylvania for four years, a requirement of the Pennsylvania constitution. Akkary is a surgeon based in Morgantown, WV about 90 minutes south of Pittsburgh. He claimed that he had also been practicing in the Pittsburgh area, and would stay at a hotel. It is clear, that unlike California, durational residency is enforced in Pennsylvania. Akkary was removed from the ballot.
Robyn Bird is running for the Republican nomination for state representative in a Philadelphia district. She was married to a Dutch naval officer. When he was stationed in Sint Maarten she would visit him, but would only bring a suitcase. Her mother had suffered a stroke and Bird would spend most of her time with her. Her husband then took a position with NATO in Belgium. Bird would travel back and forth between Philadelphia and Belgium. She got a Pennsylvania drivers license and voted in Pennsylvania. She was divorced in 2024 and moved back to Philadelphia. Later she signed a lease for an apartment in another House district, after a dispute with her mother, but regretted it but found it was too expensive to break the lease. She finally terminated the lease in January. She had pictures that showed the apartment with a mattress on the floor, and a stool for a nightstand. The judge ruled that she had never established domicile in Belgium or the other district where she had an apartment lease. She remains on the ballot.
Isn’t this article confusing, then? What if we apply my questions to California instead?
@Q, Here is the opinion of the court:
https://www.pacourts.us/Storage/media/pdfs/20260401/204731-138md20264.1.26-taibasultana-opinionandordergrantingobjectionpetition.pdf
Beginning around Page 8, the court addresses the issue of Sultana’s stated occupation. Note that the issue was what appeared on Sultana’s petition (which would have been presented to signers), rather than her Statement of Financial Interests. I do not know why Richard Winger stated “Statement of Economic Interests”. The article that he linked to says “petition”, but also claims it was “paperwork issues”
The gist of the decision was that the use of “self-employed” might be used to disguise that the candidate was unemployed or employed in a undesirable occupation.
This is the list of California candidates:
https://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/statewide-elections/2026-primary/cert-list-candidates.pdf
Many are “Small Business Owners”. I don’t know whether anyone has said they are “Self-Employed”. In California, candidates may list multiple possible designations in order of priority, and may end up in negotiation with the SOS or even in court.
Pennsylvania petitions include the “occupation”
It’s like I told you.
You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. At least eggs have come back down pricewise since Trump has been back in office.
Also, those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.
