Jo Jorgensen Will Form an Exploratory Committee to Ponder 2028 Presidential Run — 40 Comments

  1. I would encourage her NOT to run. She has been on the national ticket twice already and nothing smacks more of “minor party” than running the same person multiple times. Just my $0.02 worth.

  2. I wish the Libertarian Party would nominate someone like Lew Rockwell or Judge Andrew Napolitano.

  3. @Casual Observer… I would agree with you. My suggestion is she consider a run for Senate or Governor, the next time those seats come up.

  4. She’s not running every cycle, and she ran in cycles that were difficult for the party for structural reasons, so the results don’t reflect much on her personally. I certainly don’t agree with her on everything but she seems like a decent person.

  5. WHAT LP FACTION NOW CONTROLS THE LP LNC ???

    LOSER MORONS FACTION !!!

  6. Burn Loot Murder ho horgensen Marxist? Who is seriously wishing for 2020 again? They may as well be running Anthony Fauci and rename themselves the Faucist Party.

  7. “Make America Free And Independent Again” is probably American Nazi Party former presidential candidate Bowles, who has trolled BAN under various names for years and claims to be dead (without ever offering any evidence) when ever exposed.

He/she/it couldn’t answer Jews for Trump’s simple question about where non-Zionists think Israeli Jews should go. The answer the “Mafioso” couldn’t give us was Hitler’s “final solution” (which is also the real meaning of “from the river to the sea” – I.e. Push them into the sea).

The ridiculous premise of the handle is that we have a “Zionist occupied government.” By Zionist they actually mean Jew. Zionists are just people of any religion or ethnicity who believe Israel has as much right to exist as any other nation.

Bowles (or whoever) likes the pro-Muslim orientation of certain “libertarian/conservatives” on the Israel/”palestine” conflict.

While I actually believe the US government should stay completely out of that conflict, when you add up all US government foreign aid to Muslim controlled countries, it’s a lot more than US foreign aid to Israel. It’s completely ridiculous to believe Israel or pro Israel interests control the US government.

Antisemites frequently hide behind “Antizionism” nowadays. But they rarely give their definition of Zionism. From the way they talk about it, it seems they believe it’s a shadowy conspiracy that runs the world – “elders of Zion.” In reality, it’s just the belief that Israel is not uniquely horrible among nation state governments, and has as much right to exist as the rest of them.

  8. The lemon party presidential campaigns are an ever more absurd clown show. Those who take them seriously are the butt of a bad joke and the marks of a confidence game.

Unfortunately, politics has become too serious for these sorts of antics. In the past, lemon party presidential candidates were akin to nude streakers at a ball game. But as national politics has become less like a sporting event and more like trench warfare, there’s no more place for that. A streaker at a ball game gets booed and arrested. A streaker in No Man’s Land during trench warfare gets shot dead.

Even if minor party presidential campaigns weren’t played out in general, running the same exact bad joke skit every four years for over half a century is especially dumb. Even the few people who either took it seriously or found it funny at first get sick of it after a while.

To the extent that the time was ever right for the minor political party strategy for the libertarian movement (or any other such ideological movement) that time has passed.

The lemon party, with its endless internal bickering and long record of failure, is particularly played out and tiresome. A behind the scenes manager with a long cane to pull it off the stage is long overdue.

  9. Arden is still off the mark. Horgensen’s level of life achievement makes a campaign for the most local and low level offices on the ballot make a lot more sense than senator or governor, much less president. City council, county commissioner, that sort of thing. Certainly not anything above state legislature.

And the L brand is a lot more of an albatross than anything, so ditch that.

That’s if getting elected was her goal, which it obviously isn’t. Actually getting a job as a professional elected politician and running as a minor party candidate for the highest office you can in the present US political system are not compatible goals.

More realistic goals that are compatible with loopytarian presidential campaigns are things like book sales, comedy tours, building an influencer brand or social media following, and things of that nature.

  10. Q,

I don’t side with lemon party factions, but Kauffman has the right idea as far as intentionally junking the lemon party goes. In the extremely improbable scenario where I would have been a lemon party national convention voter this year, I’d have voted for him for chair for that reason alone.

  11. If Trump was a tyrant, those who keep calling him one in public should not be doing that (at least, not for very long before being jailed or shot).

See for example the people who were in the streets of Iran to protest against their tyrannical regime. About 30,000 of them were killed for doing that. Proportional to population size, that would be hundreds of thousands of people in the US.

THANK G-D PRESIDENT TRUMP IS NOTHING CLOSE TO BEING A TYRANT.

And everlasting shame on those who keep encouraging more assassination attempts against him by endlessly going on and on about what a “tyrant” he is.

Shame also on those who platform that drek. I’m all for free speech, but that’s crying fire in a crowded theatre.

  12. Like everything else the nAZi-666 aka AZeri spambot links to, USSR YESTERDAY is fake news.

  13. Angela McArdle is right. Trump is the closest thing to a libertarian president we’ve had in over a century.

The whole reason the fake news – derp state – globalist axis of evil keeps lying about him being a “tyrant” is because he’s the biggest challenge to their actual tyranny in all that time. He’s annoying enough to them for them to resort to any and all desperate tactics they can, up to and including repeated assassination attempts, to “86 47.”

Serious libertarians understand this and support Trump, and the strategy of an alliance between libertarianism and right wing populism as outlined by Murray Rothbard in the 1990s. Pat Buchanan’s peasants with pitchforks, TEA parties, now MAGA. That’s where real libertarians who actually want to make a difference are, to the extent that they participate in electoral politics at all.

And then on the other hand we have the “Libertarian” (lemon) “party” circus. Well into their sixth decade of tying themselves into endless knots by now.

  14. Coming on the back of the Lemon Party,

    I agree!

The real libertarians are those who supported Strom Thurmond for President and supported George Wallace and David Duke in their respective heydays. We stood with Ronald Reagan when he announced his 1980 Presidential Campaign with a speech about States Rights in Philadelphia, Mississippi, and we fully embraced the symbolism of that location.

Liberty for Aryans is the heart of libertarianism, just as libertarianism is the heart of conservatism as Reagan correctly said.

Lincoln was the real tyrant. Trump is the real Great Liberator.

  15. Real libertarians (libertaryans) reject indiscrimination, “reverse” bigotry, matriarchy, national/cultural/racial suicide, population replacement social engineering, national/cultural/racial suicide, and surrender to totalitarian globalism as truly irrational and repugnant.

  16. Sometimes, you have to destroy a village in order to save it from communist slavery, which is a fate far worse than death. This is one of those times. We need Trump to actually declare martial law and rule by decree for a period of time, perhaps either suspending elections or having them conducted under federal supervision that He and His appointees oversee, in order to save our freedom and save our country.

This may seem to be paradoxical to simple minded foolish loltards that support Burn Loot Murder Ho Horgensen, Chasing Oliver, Stoned Johnson and their ilk, but true libertarians understand that it’s to prevent far greater tyranny in the long run, and that this is in fact a true national emergency.

We simply can’t survive another stolen election like 2020 again as a nation or as a people. That is indisputable fact. Trump alone can save us!

  17. Also, as the greatest libertarian intellectual of all time, Hans Hoppe, pointed out in his seminal masterpiece “Democracy: the God that Failed” – while peaceful anarchy is the long term goal of libertarianism, monarchy is not as bad as democracy due to the perverse incentives of short time preference under elected government.

It just makes a lot of sense from a libertarian perspective to make Trump our God Emperor and acknowledge that He is the Second Coming of Jesus, or at the very least make him dictator until he solves our national emergencies, as opposed to “democratically” sliding gradually into globalist totalitarian hell on earth.

Suspending or replacing the constitution isn’t so bad when you think about it. It’s been distorted repeatedly far beyond recognition, particularly since the uncivil war and the improper adoption of constitutional amendments thereafter. No legitimate government exists, but even on its own terms our government has been illegitimate since then. Suspending the illusion of constitutional government is necessary to prevent much worse tyranny in the (not so) long run.

    Hail Trump! Hail Victory!

  18. Donald Trump is the greatest libertarian. He even says so Himself.

  19. Democracy: The God That Failed is a 2001 book by Hans-Hermann Hoppe containing thirteen essays on democracy. Passages in the book oppose universal suffrage and favor natural elites.

In the book, Hoppe argues that democracy is a cause of civilizational decline. The book examines modern democracies in the light of various evident failures which include rising unemployment rates, expanding public debt, and insolvent social security systems. He attributes democracy’s failures to pressure groups seeking increased government expenditures, regulations and taxation and a lack of counter-measures to them. Potential solutions he discusses include secession, shifting of control over the nationalised wealth from a larger, central government to a smaller, regional one and complete freedom of contract, occupation, trade and migration introduced.

Hoppe characterizes democracy as “publicly-owned government”, and when he compares it with monarchy—”privately-owned government”—he concludes that the latter is preferable; however, Hoppe aims to show that both monarchy and democracy are deficient systems compared to his preferred structure for advancing civilization—something he calls the natural order, a system free of both taxation and coercive monopoly in which jurisdictions freely compete for adherents. In his Introduction, he lists other names used elsewhere to refer to this concept of “natural order”, including “ordered anarchy”, “private property anarchism”, “anarcho-capitalism”, “autogovernment”, “private law society”, and “pure capitalism”.

  20. Emperor Trump > democracy, but eventually we need anarcho-capitalism.

  21. We finally have a libertarian POTUS, Donald Trump. He even went to the Libertarian convention, said he’s a Libertarian, and sought the nomination. Why would we want to replace him, especially with a Marxist academic like Whorgensen?

To keep America great we need to keep Trump President.

  22. As far as the 22nd amendment, repeal is a tall order but there are ample grounds to declare a national emergency to suspend it.
