On September 8, Brian Miller, the Democratic nominee for U.S. House in Montana’s 2nd district, filed a lawsuit in state court, alleging that his independent opponent, Michael Eisenhauer, did not have enough valid signatures. See this story.

Eisenhauer needed 7,273 valid signatures. Among all the petitioning candidates for U.S. House this year who appeared to qualify, he overcome the most difficult requirement. Second most difficult such petition for U.S. House this year was for William Puetz, an independent candidate who got on in Alabama’s Sixth District. This sentence doesn’t include an Illinois candidate whose petition was not challenged.
