Two independents have been elected to the Utah House of Representatives. They are Patrick Belmont in the 3rd District, and Sergio Sotelo in the 38th district. Utah had not elected anyone to the legislature who was not a Democratic or a Republican nominee since 1956. As noted in another post here, the Forward Party may have won a seat in the State Senate.
