At Least One Arkansas County Has Presidential Candidates Listed on Two Pages

Arkansas and New Jersey are the two states in which each county designs its own ballot, and determines for itself the order of candidates on the ballot. This Washington County, Arkansas sample ballot has six of the presidential candidates on the first page, and the other seven on the next page. Generally, experts in ballot design are very critical of that design.

The ballot instructions say, “Presidential Candidates Are on 2 Pages. You must select “more” to view all candidates.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp May Have Trouble Casting a Vote

According to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution news story, Georgia Governor Brian Kamp may have trouble casting a vote this week. He was exposed to the covid-19 virus and if he follows standard medical guidelines, he will quarantine himself, and therefore won’t appear at the polls tomorrow. But even though he requested a postal absentee ballot on Friday, October 30, it probably won’t arrive at his home in time for him to turn it in on November 3. See this story. Socialist Workers Party Will File Lawsuit to Keep Addresses of its Washington State Presidential Elector Candidates Private

The Socialist Workers Party says in its newspaper, The Militant, that it will sue the Washington Secretary of State is she releases the addresses of the party’s nominees for presidential elector to the public. See the story here.

Although the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1982 that the party had a right to keep the names of its campaign contributors private, the party had never before asked that the addresses of any of its candidates be kept private. And the party’s ability to keep the names of its campaign contributors private expired several years ago, and the party has not asked that it be reinstated.

New York Releases First Registration Data Since February 2020

On November 2, the New York State Board of Elections released the first registration data since February 2020. New York had been the only state that had not released any registration data for any point in the last four months. Here is the link. Be careful to distinguish the active voters from the inactive voters.

The new percentages are: Democratic 50.06%; Republican 22.20%; Independence 3.51%; Conservative 1.22%; Working Families .33%; Green .20%; Libertarian .16%; SAM .01%; Womens Equality plus Reform .06%; independent and miscellaneous 22.25%. These are the active voters.

The February percentages had been: Democratic 50.43%; Republican 22.32%; Independence 3.70%; Conservative 1.26%; Working Families .34%; Green .21%; Libertarian .12%; Womens Equality .06%; Reform .02%; SAM .003%; independent and miscellaneous 21.55%.
