The Alaska Division of Elections has determined that the Green Party presidential petition is valid.
Politifact, a fact-checking website that uses neutral experts, here finds the statement that minor party and independent candidates generally hurt Democrats is false. The analysis has some data that minor parties hurt Donald Trump in 2016, and that Kanye West hurts Trump this year. Of course, West’s attemps to get on ballots have been so badly handled so far, he won’t be on many ballots in any event.
The Maine petition to get Jo Jorgensen on the ballot as the Libertarian nominee for president has enough signatures, according to the Secretary of State. There is much interest in the list of Vermont presidential candidates, because the state this year abolished petitions, and there is no filing fee. The Secretary of State expects to have the list sometime on Tuesday, August 10.
