On June 20, the New Mexico legislature passed SB 4, which lets independent voters switch their registration to a major party as late as primary day. The old law does not permit such party changes during the 28 days before a primary. Thanks to Rick Lass for this news.
New sources are reporting that the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor no longer wishes to host the presidential debate of October 15. The Commission on Presidential Debates had chosen university campuses for all three presidential debates, as well as the vice-presidential debate. On June 22, the state of Ohio filed this U.S. Supreme Court brief in Thompson v DeWine, 19A1054. This is the case over whether the health crisis justifies ballot access for initiatives in Ohio this year.

Georgia law says a recall petition can only be circulated by someone who lives in the jurisdiction in which the recall is taking place, and also the circulator must be a registered voter. On May 22, Georgia conceded that the law is unconstitutional and settled the lawsuit Malone v Raffensperger, n.d., 1:20cv-2513. Here is the 8-page motion for entry of a consent judgment.
On June 21, the Michigan Green Party and the Lavender Caucus of the Green Party chose delegates to the national convention. The results boosted Howie Hawkins. According to his campaign, he now has enough pledged delegates to be assured of the presidential nomination.
