On June 2, the Arkansas Secretary of State appealed Miller v Thurston, w.d., 5:20cv-5070. This is the case in which the U.S. District Court had given ballot access relief to proponents of initiatives. Also on June 2, the U.S. District Court refused to stay its own opinion. On June 2, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper refused to say that the Republican national convention will be permitted to convene under traditional habits for national conventions. Over the last few weeks, the Socialist Workers Party has been asking party supporters to donate their federal government stimulus checks to the party. The party has announced that it has raised $95,000 in this fund appeal. Stimulus checks, in whole or part, were donated to the party by 84 individuals.
This news story points out that Arizona does not allow school board candidates to collect electronic signatures, even though candidates for state office may do so. Some candidates for large school board need as many as 400 signatures.
