Rocky De La Fuente Qualifies for Republican Massachusetts Presidential Primary by Petition

On December 31, the Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office said Rocky De La Fuente’s petition for the Republican presidential primary ballot has enough valid signatures. Presidential primary candidates not found by the Secretary of State to be discussed in the news media need 2,500 signatures of party members or independent voters.

The Massachusetts Republican presidential primary ballot will list De La Fuente, President Trump, William Weld, and Joe Walsh. De La Fuente is the only person who petitioned onto any presidential primary ballot in Massachusetts.

U.S. District Court Assigns a Judge to Rocky De La Fuente’s RICO Presidential Primary Ballot Access Lawsuit

As reported previously, on December 16, Rocky De La Fuente sued the Republican National Committee, President Trump, and all the state Republican Parties in which the party is only allowing President Trump’s name to be on the ballot. The lawsuit also sues the state Republican Parties which charged every Republican candidate except Trump a large filing fee, but did not charge President Trump any fee. The lawsuit depends partly on the RICO statute (racketeer-influenced and corrupt organizations Act).

On December 31, the case was assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee.

Michigan Republican Party Asks Sixth Circuit to Enjoin Michigan Citizens Redistricting Commission

On December 27, the Michigan Republican Party filed this brief in the Sixth Circuit in Daunt v Benson, 19-2377. This is the case in which the Republican Party challenges the Michigan Citizens Redistricting Commission passed by the voters in November 2018. The party argues that the rules by which individuals become a member of the Redistricting Commission violate the First Amendment.

The Secretary of State, who is a Democrat, has already begun the process by which individuals apply for membership on the Commission.
