Constitution Party Does Not Get on Statewide Pennsylvania Ballot

Although the Pennsylvania Constitution Party attempted to get on the ballot for Governor this year, it failed to collect as many as 5,000 signatures, and the deadline has now passed, so it won’t be on the statewide ballot this year. It did get on in 2016 for President.

Maine State Court Rules that Governor Can’t Block Appropriation for Public Financing of Campaigns

On August 2, a Maine state trial court ruled that Governor Paul LePage must release the money appropriated for public financing of campaigns for legislative candidates. See this story.

Socialist Workers Party Announces 18 Candidates for Public Office in 2018, but Probably None Will Appear on Ballot

The Socialist Workers Party has announced its list of 2018 candidates for public office. It appears that none of the eighteen listed candidates will appear on the November ballot, however.

New York Times Story on Independence Party of New York in 2018 Elections

The New York Times has this story about the Independence Party of New York. The story focuses on the fact that for the two big statewide offices, Governor and U.S. Senate, the Independence Party nominates Democrats. But for U.S. House and state legislature, it leans toward nominating Republicans.
