An Oklahoma group has announced plans to put an initiative on the ballot in 2026 that would create a top-two system. See this story.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr’s best percentage in New Mexico was McKinley County, where he got 1.94% of the vote. His best precincts in that county were all on the Navajo Indian Reservation. He got between 3% and 4.3% in precincts 2 (YahTaHey), eleven (Whitehorse Lake), and twentyfive (Vanderwagen).
McKinley County’s population is 75% Navajo. It is one of three counties in the U.S. where the language most commonly spoken at home is neither English nor Spanish.
On election night, the New Mexico Green Party appeared to have missed ongoing qualified status by 51 votes. But late-arriving ballots seem to have boosted the party’s showing, so that it is now barely meeting the .5% vote test for president. Here is a link to the Secretary of State’s vote tally. The vote is still unofficial but all counties have finished their official canvass, so when the state canvass is complete, the results should be the same.
The party needed 4,617 votes and appears to have 4,619.
As of Tuesday morning, November 18, the race for North Carolina Supreme Court is still undecided. The tally today is 2,770,818 for the Democratic nominee, Allison Riggs; and 2,770,193 for Jefferson Griffin, the Republican nominee. On election night Griffin had been leading.
