The April 2 South Dakota registration tally shows these percentages: Republican 50.41%; Democratic 24.07%; Libertarian .49%; independent and miscellaneous 25.03%. There are 19 registered members in the No Labels Party.

The percentages in November 2023 were: Republican 50.06%; Democratic 24.51%; Libertarian .49%; independent and miscellaneous 24.94%. Also there were 9 registered members of the No Labels Party.

The South Dakota registration form does not have a checkbox that mentions all the qualified parties. Instead the applicant must write in the party. That is probably why the No Labels registration is so low.

New Utah Registration Data

The Utah Elections office has released a registration tally as of April 15. The percentages: Republican 52.73%; Democratic 13.56%; Independent American 4.08%; Libertarian 1.23%; Constitution .41%; United Utah .14%; No Labels .12%; independent and miscellaneous 27.72%.

The Forward Party, which is new in Utah, has 63 members, and the Green Party, which recently regained qualified status, has 42 members. When the Green Party was last on the Utah ballot in 2020, it had over 2,200 members, but apparently the state converted all the Greens to independents, so now the party must rebuild its registration list.

In October 2023, the percentages were: Republican 52.27%; Democratic 13.71%; Independent American 3.95%; Libertarian 1.21%; Constitution .40%; United Utah .14%; No Labels .03%; independent and miscellaneous 28.29%. Thanks to Mike Feinstein for the new data.

New Arizona Registration Data

The Arizona Secretary of State has released the voter registration data as of April. The percentages: Republican 35.36%; Democratic 29.38%; Libertarian .77%; No Labels .68%; Green .07%; independent and other 33.75%.

At the previous tally, in January 2024, the percentages were: Republican 34.58%; Democratic 29.55%; Libertarian .79%; No Labels .66%; Green .06%; independent and other 34.38%.

The No Labels Party now has enough registration to remain on the ballot indefinitely, even if it has no candidates in November 2024. But in order to remain on, it must keep its registration above two-thirds of 1%. Thanks to Richard Grayson for this news.

Robert F. Kennedy’s Party Survives Democratic Party Challenge in Hawaii

On Friday, a hearings officer for the Hawaii Division of Elections ruled that the We the People Party should remain on the ballot. We the People is a party formed in a few states to nominate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., for president.

The Hawaii Democratic Party had challenged the existence of the party. The challenge did not claim that the party hadn’t submitted enough signatures. Instead the challenge said two of the party’s officers were ineligible because they had voted in the Democratic Party primary in 2022, and a third party officer wasn’t a registered voter. But the law doesn’t say that challenges based on such matters are allowed; the law only allows challenges to the validity of the petition.

In any event, the two party officers testified that they are not Democrats. Hawaii does not have registration by party. See this story.
