California Special Congressional Election Returns

Preliminary election returns for the special U.S. House election in California’s 10th district are:
Democrat John Garamendi 55.54%; Republican Dave Harmer 39.77%; Green Jeremy Cloward 1.99%; Peace & Freedom Mary McIlroy 1.48%; American Independent Party Jerry Denham 1.23%.

When this district last voted, in November 2008, the results had been: Democratic 65.20%; Republican 31.10%; Peace & Freedom 3.70%.

Democrat Leading 49-45% in NY 23rd Congressional District

Updated: 12:05am EST (Wednesday)

With 87% of precincts reporting, CNN just reported that the Democrat, Bill Owens, is leading with 49% over Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman’s 45%. Republican Dede Scozzafava, who withdrew from the race a few days ago, is getting 6%.

There are over 11,000 absentee ballots that will not be counted tonight.

Tennessee Minor Party Chairs Will be Deposed in Ballot Access Lawsuit on November 13

Attorneys for the state of Tennessee will be taking the depositions of leaders of the Tennessee Constitution, Green, and Libertarian Parties on November 13. If necessary, they will extend into November 14, even though that is a Saturday. The depositions are part of the normal process for constitutional lawsuits. The case concerns Tennessee’s ballot access law for new and previously unqualified parties.
