The Utah state elections office has determined that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., submitted a valid petition, so he is on the ballot as an independent presidential candidate in that state.
On December 27, the Michigan Supreme Court issued a short opinion, agreeing with the lower courts and keeping former President Donald Trump on the Michigan Republican presidential primary ballot. The vote was unanimous. See this story. LaBrant v Benson, 166470. Here is the decision. All justices except one simply refused to accept the case, which means the lower court decision stands. The chief justice, Elizabeth Welch, would have taken the case but she would have ruled that Michigan law does not permit the Secretary of State to consider qualifications.
No one who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination is on the ballot in all the Democratic presidential primaries. President Joe Biden is not on in New Hampshire, and Dean Phillips chose not to file in Nevada.
Biden is off the ballot in New Hampshire because the primary is not in conformity with national Democratic rules; it is on January 23, which is too early. National Democratic Party rules say South Carolina should have the earliest presidential primary.
But New Hampshire will count Biden write-ins. In New Hampshire, there is no procedure for a write-in candidate to ask to have his or her write-ins counted. New Hampshire counts them automatically if they are more than just a handful.
As to Republicans, the only candidate who is on all Republican presidential primaries is Nikki Haley. The other leading contenders did not file in Nevada, because the state party said people who file in the (unwanted) presidential primary may not compete in the party’s Nevada caucus.
Cenk Uygur is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, even though he was born in Turkey. He has now qualified for the Democratic presidential primary in four states. The latest is Minnesota, where the Democratic Party put him on the ballot.
Chris Chrstie did not ask the Maine Supreme Court to put him on the Republican presidential primary, and the time for him to appeal has now expired. The lower state court kept him off the ballot because his petition did not sort the signatures by town.
