On October 3, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear Kowall v Benson, 21-1360, the case that challenged Michigan’s strict term limits law for legislative candidates. Thanks to Thomas Jones for this news.

Commentary on California’s Statewide Elections Under Top-Two

Emily Hoeven, author at the CalMatters website, here writes about California’s partisan statewide elections. As she points out, they are stunningly predictable. Ever since top-two took system effect in 2011, Democrats have won every statewide race, generally with a big margin.

Three States Have a Democratic-Republican Ballot Monopoly This November for All Legislative Elections

All states hold legislative elections on November 8, 2022, except for Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Virginia.

Among the 46 states with legislative elections, the only three with no independent or minor party candidates on the ballot are Georgia, Illinois, and Kentucky.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution Poll Includes Libertarians for Statewide Offices

This story about the Georgia Libertarian Party statewide nominees says the Libertarian candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Ryan Graham, is polling 7.6% in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Poll. Both major parties have nominees in all the Georgia statewide office elections.
