Florida is the only state in which the filing deadline to file as a write-in for president in the general election is earlier than the deadline for a new party to get on the ballot for President. The Florida write-in filing deadline was July 12. This year, six independent presidential candidates and one minor party candidate filed to have write-ins counted.
The minor party nominee is Zoltan Istvan of the Transhumanist Party. Istvan lives in Mill Valley, Califoria.
The six independents are: Laurence J. Kotlikoff of Brookline, Massachusetts, a prominent economist; Richard Duncan of Aurora, Ohio, who usually gets on the ballot in Ohio but no other state; Cherunda Fox of Detroit, Michigan; Samuel Tabor of Mobeetie, Texas; Tony Valdivia of San Antonio, Texas; and Andrew Basiago of Charlotte, North Carolina. Basiago claims to have traveled back in time; see this story.
It’ll be interesting to see how Zoltan Istvan does on election night.
I’m afraid that write-in presidential candidates never get a tally on election night. Generally the write-in results aren’t made known until a month after an election.
Interesting – Didn’t know that!
Thanks
Interesting that the Transhumanist Party did not seek ballot access in an easy state.
Tony valdivia for president!
If a vote for Zoltan Istvan is a vote for Trump, is a vote for Andrew D. Basiago a vote for Clinton?
Hello, Florida requires (F.S. § 103.022) Write-in candidates for President and Vice President to register as a team, using one oath of office form, executed and witnessed before a single notary public. Below is a link to the oath of office form.

Do other states require write-in candidates for President and Vice President to register as a team, using one oath of office form, executed and witnessed before a single notary public? Below is a link to F.S. § 103.022 Write-in candidates for President and Vice President.
