Libertarian Party U.S. House Vote Increases by 73% Over 2014, Despite Same Number of Candidates Both Years

Greg Kaza has calculated the number of votes cast for Libertarian Party nominees for U.S. House. With some ballots still uncounted, the national total is 1,671,091, the highest in the party’s history.

In both 2014 and 2016, the party had 122 nominees. The 2014 national total had been 965,494.

The party’s previous highest vote total for U.S. House had been the 2000 figure of 1,610,292. However in 2000, the party had more than twice as many nominees. In 2000 it had 255 nominees. The party has not had as many nominees in recent years as it had in the last decade. This is partly because in the past, the party’s national director, Ron Crickenberger, was extremely energetic and effective in recruiting congressional candidates, and he is no longer living. Another reason for the decline in the number of candidates is the existence of top-two systems in California and Washington, which have kept all Libertarian congressional nominees off the ballot since the system was implemented. Thanks to Greg Kaza for this information. The December 1,, 2016 BAN will have a chart showing the vote for all parties, for all states, for U.S. House.

  1. Basic P.R. —

Party Seats = Total Seats x Party Votes / Total Votes

Difficult ONLY for minority rule gerrymander oligarchs.

  2. Joshua K do you think the Green party could increase its congressional Candidates in 2018 if they began early next year because of ballot access laws in several states. It would be good competition to see Libertarian and Green Candidates running against each other in at least 300 or more races.Voters will have more choices to .

  3. Third party’s should begin there campaigns next year to begin an early start for the 2018 races. If President elect Donald Trump fails somewhere and the stock market has some sort of crash third party’s could benefit. The bubble burst could happen.some experts believe China could crash our economy by a bubble burst.I don’t know.I bet there will be high unemployment next year.A psychic doesn’t have to predict that for me .

  4. I can’t believe George Soros is being blamed for the riots and protest against Trump according to articles in Right-wing publications so martial law will be declared.I have to see it to believe it.Richard should find story’s like to site to add to his site. This is serious stuff.Nixon was treated better than Donald Trump.Nixon gave in to .

  5. I am not a Donald Trump supporter.I want to see Elections done differently to help third party Candidates with diverse ideas get Elected.

  6. According to David Cobb, Jill Stein’s campaign manager, the Greens plan to run candidates for municipal elections in 2017 as they come available. They also have Greens in the pipeline for midterm elections. But they’ll have to require ballot access in numerous states.

  7. It would be interesting to see, First, how many Districts had a Libertarian candidate in both 2014 & 2016 and Second how much higher was the Libertarian vote in those Districts in 2016 (both individually and in total).

  8. Only good to compare the math in the same gerrymander districts where there was a D, a R and a LP candidate.

How many more States will be infected with top 2 primary brain disease ???
