Kings County, California, Election Official Reveals Number of Total Write-ins for President

The California Secretary of State’s election returns book, “Statement of Votes”, only includes write-in votes for declared write-in presidential candidates, and does not ever mention the number of write-ins cast for other write-in candidates. However, this newspaper story reveals that in Kings County, there were a total of 572 write-in votes for President, 1.7% of the total vote cast for president.

When the Statement of Votes for California is published, there will be no way to know this number. The Statement of Votes will mention the 106 write-ins for Bernie Sanders, and the 81 for Evan McMullin, because they were declared write-in candidates, but it will not mention the other number.

Kings County is in the San Joaquin Valley and has a population of 152,982.

  1. How was Bernie Sanders a declared write in in California? Did somebody else named Bernie Sanders file in his place?

  2. The article answers my question, if you get a group of 55 people to sign the paperwork it appears that you can file someone as a qualified write-in candidate even if they themselves don’t declare.

  3. NONVotes math with the CA SV ???
i.e. the difference in *normal* elections for nonvotes vs. 2016.

  4. Also — the ongoing subversion of 14th Amdt, Sec. 2 — deny / abridge votes for Prez Electors.

  5. Ykings County did not comply with CA Elections Code section 13205(b). Therefore the County had a illegal
vote and CA Elections Code section 13200 applies. Do
    not count the illegal votes!
