  1. Totally amazing that ALL State gerrymander hacks have not had robot party hack Prez Elector control laws since 1832.

All more reasons to abolish the minority rule Electoral College — regardless of ALL of those lovers of minority rule in the many below average small States — i.e. every State that has less than 435/50 = 8.7 >> 8 or less USA Reps.

The CRISIS is coming noon 20 Jan 2017 with the wannabee tyrant Trump messing with the killer tyrants in Asia.

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  2. What would be the point of having human beings as electors if they are to have no free will? Either automate the process, get rid of the electoral vote through an amendment, or have real electors that can make real choices.

  3. Standard stuff by the ANTI-Democracy lovers of tyrant monarchs and oligarchs.

How many dead, injured and enslaved/oppressed folks due to such monarchs and oligarchs in the last 6,000 plus years of recorded history ???

  4. Assuming that this bill does become law this year, it would be VERY interesting to see how Texas would react if an un-pledged slate of Electors somehow managed to win in Texas.

  5. In Texas, independent presidential candidates file slates of electors. Presumably, they will name individuals who will vote for them.

On the other hand, electors for political parties are chosen by the state party convention. The Republican elections were chosen last May, when the convention delegates were chosen. There was a deliberate effort to choose faithless delegates – who might be forced by party rules to vote for Trump on the first round at the convention, but could freely vote on any platform or rules issue, including a rules change to release them.

Democratic electors in Washington and Colorado were chosen at conventions dominated by Sanders supporters (neither state had a primary as part of their nomination process). It not surprising that some Democratic electors were unwilling to vote for Clinton.

Had Trump personally filed in Texas, he could have named his own electors. He could still have run as the Republican nominee. He would just need the signature of the RPT chair, along with those of the vice-presidential candidate and the 38 elector candidates.

  6. Have all the 2016 faithless Prez electors escaped from the USA ???

    Congress gerrymander hacks meet today.
