Political Scientist Seth Masket Article on Kasich-Hickenlooper Independent Bipartisan Ticket

Even though it appears Governors John Kasich (R-Ohio) and John Hickenlooper (D-Colorado) won’t actually run for president and vice-president on a single independent bipartisan ticket in 2020, Political Scientist Seth Masket has written about the concept for Pacific Standard magazine.

Pacific Standard is both a print and internet magazine, published in Santa Barbara, California.  It was formerly the Miller-McCune magazine.

  1. It would be more interesting if Rand Paul ran as a Libertarian in 2020 like his dad did in 1988.

  2. Every time I read an article like the one in The Pacific Standard, I am reminded about how naive ALMOST EVERYONE is with regard to how elections work (or don’t) in the USA. And by everyone, I mean talking heads, senior writers at major papers, politicians, everyone. I recall hearing Tom Tancredo speak about how shocked he was about the ballot access laws when he considered being an independent candidate for some office. What seems obvious to all of us on the fringe is that the wasted vote syndrome, party allegiance, ballot access laws, et al are the kiss of death for any non-D-or-R candidate for president, and for almost all other elections. Sure there are some oddities like Bernie and Angus King, but everyone knows those folks are really Dems in disguise, so they don’t count. But what is obvious to us is news to everyone else. That’s not good.

  3. The education ROT about election stuff is obviously due to the totally rotted publik skoooools —

loved by the gerrymander hacks in control of the regimes —

    ie keep the Public ignorant/stupid.
