North Carolina Legislature Doesn’t Finish Redistricting

On Monday, August 28, the North Carolina House passed the bill redistricting the State House, HB 927.  But even though it was then sent to the Senate, the Senate did not act on it, and the legislature has adjourned for the day.

Last week, the Senate had passed SB 691, the bill redistricting the State Senate, but the House still hasn’t acted on that bill.

The legislature will reconvene on Tuesday, August 29, at 2 p.m.

  1. The House passed HB 927 on 2nd and 3rd readings, the Senate had 1st reading and referred the bill to the redistricting committee. The redistricting committee will meet before the session on Tuesday and the the Senate will likely pass the bill on 2nd reading, with 3rd reading on Wednesday.

The Senate passed SB 691 on 2nd reading on Friday and 3rd reading on Monday. The Senate meeting was into the evening,so there was no opportunity for the House to act on the bill.

You are using corrupt California/Illinois procedural norms.

  2. The United Coalition has been working with candidates for elective office for seats in government who are interested in a unifying voting system under pure proportional representation for more than twenty-two consecutive years and it works fine.

Nobody has it as good as the United Coalition.
