British Election Results

British election results are Labour 356 seats, Conservative 197, Liberal Democrat 62, other 30. 1 seat is still undecided.

The share of the popular vote in the whole nation is: Labour 35.6%, Conservative 32.7%, Liberal Democrat 22.3%, other 4.4%.

Three smaller parties that had tried very hard to win at least one seat, failed to win any. They are the Green Party, whose best showing was 22% for a third place finish; the British National Party, whose best showing was 17%; and the U.K. Independence Party. However, the new, militantly anti-Iraq war Respect Party won a seat in London’s east end.

  1. Strangely — or maybe not — a lot of alleged Republicans and alleged U.S. conservatives are cheering the re-election of Tony Blair.
Are they not aware he is a Socialist?
Or is that, in fact, why they cheer?

  2. The Labour Parties majority in the British Parliment has deminished greatly as a result of British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s relations with that sadomasacist George W. Bush.

  3. A result which had something for everyone. Labor still won (albeit with a reduced majority) the Tories improved fairly dramatically and so did the LibDems. Only the UUP really got whacked in Northern Ireland. Makes one wonder why the DUP and Sinn Fein made gains if the peace process is really moving forward.

  4. In the end though Tony Blair’s dealings with the Bush administration will only serve to hurt both him and the Labour Party politicaly.
