Lawsuit Filed Against Georgia Voter ID Law

On September 19, the ACLU filed a lawsuit against a new Georgia law that requires voters at the polls to show either a Georgia drivers license, or a Georgia state ID card. Common Cause v Billups, 4:05-cv-201, northern district, Rome division. The case was assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Harold Murphy, a Clinton appointee.

  1. The only people in georgia happy with this law is the state republican party. Everyone else just sees it as a reintroduction of Jim Crow laws. Hope the court strikes is down

  2. It is my opinion that if you have not expired and do not reside in a vacant lot or a place of business,you would have no problem producing some form of ID verification. Fraud has been everpresent in the election process and this legislation may very well be a deterrant to those who would engage in such activities(corruption being no discerner of persons or party affiliation.)
