Illinois State Senator Might Create New Party

Illinois State Senator James Meeks, a Democrat from Chicago, is threatening to organize a new party this year and to be its candidate for Governor. He is angry with the incumbent Democratic Governor, Rod Blagojevich, for promising not to raise sales or income taxes. Although Meeks is a Democrat, he was elected to the State Senate in 2002 as the nominee of the “Honesty and Integrity Party”. Meeks cannot be an independent candidate for Governor this year because the deadline has already passed, although that deadline is under legal attack in a case filed in 2004, now pending in the 7th circuit.

  1. We were founded in 1998. It was difficult to start up a brand new veterans advocacy group from scratch.

Is the Heart Land so devoid of smaller parties with ballot access, near ballot access, or even just a history of activisism that Mister Meeks has to invent the Meeks Party? No Greens, Independence (New York, Minnesota, and three other states), Libs, or even (Simi-) Constitution Party.

We had to start from scratch, resigned Congress Member “Puke” Cunningham, his just as evil twin in the California Assembly, now corrupt Senator Bill (My Brother is a local Media Type) Morrow, and the traditional veterans groups (Jewish War Veterans, Purple Heart, VFW, American Legion, AmVets) were (are!) part of the problem!

Honesty and Integrity Party? 1980 John B. Anderson National Unity Party Lite? United We Stand America with out the yelling and screaming and back stabbing? Rebirth of the 1912 Bull Moose Progressives? Celebration of the 1892 (Detriot) Populists? Reform for the 21st Century? Inquiring minds want to know!
