On April 3, the voters of Springfield, Missouri held a city council election. A member of the Libertarian Party, Doug Burlison, won an at-large seat with 4,351 votes. His only opponent, incumbent Conrad Griggs, received 3,886. Thanks to Eric Dondero for this news.
That “woman in Fullerton?” As a former Southern Californian I am shocked, just shocked, to hear such blatant geographism and sexism.
Actually it just reminds me of some really great times I’ve had in Fullerton, but that’s another story!
Everybody should be subscribing to Ballot Access News!! Right Now!!
Congratulations to Doug Burlison. He did a great job on his campaign and I am pleased he won election.
Here are some other Libertarians running for election on 12 May to city council in Texas. They include:
Pat Dixon – Lago Vista City Council, Place 1 (http://patdixon.org)
Kevin Tunstall – Missouri City Council, District C (http://elect.kdtunstall.com)
Matthew Moseley – Richardson City Council, Place 6 (http://www.matthewmoseley.org)
Best regards.
The next closest might be Doug Anderson, city councilman, Ward 4, in Lakewood, Colorado, a city of over 144,000, elected in 2005:

A long time ago, Doug was an elected Elections Commissioner for the city of Denver.
We’re really proud of Doug’s accomplishment down here. It’s about time a statesman got into public office.
