No Republican Enjoys As Much as 30% Among Republican Primary Voters

An NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll released on June 13 shows that no Republican enjoys support from as much as 30% of the voters who plan to vote in Republican presidential primaries. The poll, based on 1,008 voters, shows: Rudy Giuliani 29%, Fred Thompson 20%, Mitt Romney 14%, John McCain 14%, Mike Huckabee 3%, Ron Paul 2%, Tommy Thompson 2%, Sam Brownback 1%, Jim Gilmore 1%, Duncan Hunter 1%, Tom Tancredo 1%, other or undecided 12%.

It is quite possible that the Republican National Convention itself will make the meaningful decision as to who the Republican presidential nominee will be. That would make for a very short general election campaign, since that convention is not until September 1-4, 2008.

The same poll also polled Democrats, but that field is not so split, since Hillary Clinton enjoys 39%.

No Republican Enjoys As Much as 30% Among Republican Primary Voters — No Comments

  1. High time people! Wake up!!

If we don’t get Ron Paul elected we’re all in trouble!! Please Support Ron Paul in any way you can! Our future depends on it!

  2. There is nothing scientific about a poll that relies on land line telephones.

The real scientific poll will be when the new contribution numbers come out.

When people can only learn about Ron Paul on the internet, the population of supporters is much less likely to have a land line phone.

  3. Duncan Hunter will see that we finish the job we started in Iraq. See Morganthau’s 14 points on International relations. We will not leave Iraq until “balance of power” is achieved in the region. Anything less invites catastrophe. Anyone who has taken International relations 101 knows this. All defeatist comments only give “aid and comfort to the enemy”.

  4. We left Vietnam, and the dominoes didn’t fall. We Left Somalia and the war didn’t spread.

The world knows that American politics can turn on a dime, a balance of power is not required in Iraq; a balance of terror will suffice. As soon as the Iraqis are faced with an actual civil war, only then will they be faced with the incentives to stop it.

Anyone who has watched Star Trek knows this.

  5. The GOP National Convention will be as meaningless and ceremonial as the Democrats’ because the field will thin quickly between the Iowa caucuses and the Feb 5 primaries. By Feb 5, one of the Republicans (probably not Ron Paul) will have emerged as the presumptive nominee, as will one of the Democrats.

Ron Paul’s supporters may not own land line phones, but they read this blog. All three of them!

  6. Make that four. I am also a Ron Paul supporter, and I also lack a land-line phone.

  7. Six. No landline phone.

The great thing about having just a cell phone and no landline is that no salesmen call you. Of course, that also means pollsters can’t call you either.

  8. On a further note, I would love to see a contested convention. I’m only 24 so I’ve never seen one. Those have to be awesome. All this fake nicety that is always displayed is easy to see through, I want to see vengeance, yelling, and honesty.
