The New Republic Magazine Looks at Unity08 — No Comments
Unity08 appears to be an attempt by establishment political hacks to gin up some work. The work is soliciting enough entrenched establishment money to co-opt any grassroots political insurgency – to act as “spoilers” to a popular third party presidential candidate.
Do they ask anyone to run for the U.S. House of Representatives under their banner? No. The object is to sack up dissident presidential votes and serve and protect the two-party dominance.
What kind of candidate do they want or expect to get?
A re-tread from the status quo who do the dirty deed and pay handsomely for the opportunity.
If the campaign shapes up to run its normal bi-partisan course, UNity08 will quietly deflate. If not, there is plenty of potential money to finance the Unity08 trojan horse under the present campaign finance regime. Money for the Democrats, money for the Republicans, and money for Unity08 all going toward the same goal.
Three for us and one for you. Cute, eh? No corruption of the election here – it’s legal because they say it is.
