Delaware Democrats Will Try to Repeal Fusion in 2008

Democrats in the Delaware legislature tried to make fusion illegal in 2007, but failed. However, the leader of the Democrats in the legislature has said he will try again in 2008. According to some reports, he will try to attach the anti-fusion amendment to a “must-pass” bill on some other subject. Thanks to Delaware Watch for this news.

  1. I don’t understand how they can. Would not individual political parties have the right to determine this. I could understand a Democrat saying no candidate we endorse may run under the banner of another. This would be a party rule not a legislative act.

I found this in the archives of the New York Times for another take on fusion.
